The MIT Entrepreneurship Review (MITER) is a student-run, online publication that examines the intersection of science, technology, and entrepreneurship. We are a group of undergraduates, masters students, PhDs, and alumni from MIT’s schools of engineering, science, and business. We have a broad range of interests and expertise but share the same passion for entrepreneurship.
We view MITER as “where Einstein meets Edison”, or where “thinkers” meet “doers”. Our goal is to bring cutting edge knowledge, innovative ideas and practical experience to entrepreneurs. As such, we publish a variety of technical, analytical, and inspirational articles including real-life stories and advice from entrepreneurs as well as the latest theories and innovation from MIT and the industry.
As a relatively young publication (founded in 2010), MITER is growing rapidly and continues to seek ways to improve. We welcome any suggestions, ideas, and feedback you have (please see our contact us page).

Betar GallantBetar Gallant is a fourth-year graduate student in Mechanical Engineering and a National Science Foundation fellow. She received her S.B. and S.M. degrees from M.I.T. She is passionate about changing the clean energy scene through the development of new devices and materials that can store and convert energy electrochemically. Her research focuses on nanoscale energy storage materials for lithium-ion and lithium-air batteries, electrochemical capacitors and desalination applications. Betar’s experience includes work as a technology program specialist at the U.S. Department of Energy, where she helped develop policy to encourage more students to pursue careers in science and technology. She is also a 2012 Managing Director of the M.I.T. Clean Energy Prize.
Jordi MataFinkJordi is a PhD student in chemical engineering at MIT and a writer for the Entrepreneurship Review. His thesis research applies the tools of protein engineering to vaccine development. He is interested in biotech entrepreneurship, particularly as it applies to global health and neglected diseases.
Kevin McCarthyKevin McCarthy was born and raised in Southern California, graduating with honors from UC San Diego with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics. He is currently a 5th-year PhD candidate in the Figueroa Lab in MIT's Physics department, where he develops simulation, data analysis tools, and next-generation hardware for the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) experiment. Kevin sees MITER as a fantastic opportunity to understand the interplay between scientific research and entrepreneurial ventures, and disseminate the amazingly broad knowledge base of the MITER staff to the interested public.
